WOW it’s all coming to a close like NOW. If I don’t include the weekend or graduation day (next Thursday!), we have five official days left. And actually, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of next week are just out-processing and graduation rehearsals, so… WOW.
I turned in my school horn today!
It’s not like the school horn sucked, but I played my personal horn during our MPT rehearsal today and heard a HUGE improvement. We finished the piece and I said, “Oh my gosh, I missed my horn; I play so much better on it!” And Sgt Killgore said, “YEAH.” I said, “Thanks, Sgt,” pretending to be offended, but he said that it seemed like I could cross over the ranges much more easily. Yep! I missed it 🙂 I should have been playing on it the whole cycle, but I didn’t know if I’d be allowed and I didn’t want it to seem like I thought the school horn was poopy. I should have asked. Oh well. When you’re here for AIT, bring your personal horn and ask if you can play it!
Wait, why was our MPT rehearsing when we already had our performance assessment, you ask? Oh, because we’re playing for graduation! WOOT WOOT I am so excited for Will and my parents to hear our MPT! I’m SO lucky to play with such phenomenal musicians every day. Thanks, guys 🙂
I’m really bummed that the weather didn’t cooperate – we were supposed to do the obstacle course today. Since it’s not a graduation requirement, it’s just team-building fun, it won’t be rescheduled. I know there’s a lot to fit into 10 weeks of training, but we all were really looking forward to the obstacle course!
But wait – more fun was planned! The platoon sergeants, the first lieutenant, and first sergeant, and two other AIT sergeants hosted a cookout for us! It was great to wear our civvies with everyone and have good fellowship. They even cooked up some veggie burgers, and proud ED moment – this was the first time in FOREVER that I ate what was provided for me. WIN! The cookout was in the park, and heck yes for the swings and the beautiful view!
Tomorrow morning’s PRT is spin class, and I am PUMPED! So I’m going to call it a night for now and do some reading 🙂 Happy Wednesday, everyone! AHHH I see Will and my parents in a week!
Verse of the Day:
– The Lord will be king over the whole earth. Oh that day there will be one Lord, and his name the only name.
